A horde of journalists, cameramen and photographers gathered at the Quebec courthouse on Thursday morning, while the former judge’s case knew its outcome.

To get to the courtroom, the accused marched in front of the group. He refused to answer questions from media representatives, whom he described as “mentally ill.”

The octogenarian also lost his calm after receiving his sentence. As Jacques Delisle was to serve one day in prison, he was immediately taken into custody.

However, when handcuffs were put on his wrists, the condemned man objected. ” Oh no ! You are not serious,” he chanted.

“It’s procedure,” the agent insisted.

“This is not the first time you have been handcuffed,” she added, before Mr. Delisle complied.

Furious at the sight of this scene, his son grabbed his personal belongings and left the room.

Relations between the Delisle family and journalists have been tense over the last fifteen years, with the former having notably mentioned the media coverage they received in the context of this affair.
